Kennedy Summers was born on March 3, 1987, in Berlin, Germany, into a military family. Her father served as a Russian linguist and cryptographer in the U.S. Army, which led the family to live in various locations including Hampton, Virginia, Thailand, and several countries across Europe, Asia, South America, and the Middle East. Summers is of Caucasian descent and pursued higher education in anthropology at Mary Baldwin College before earning a Master of Healthcare Administration. Later, she studied medicine in Curaçao, focusing on plastic surgery with an emphasis on aesthetics and burn reconstruction, and graduated with an M.D. in 2020.

Summers began modeling at the age of 14 after being encouraged by her etiquette teacher who owned a modeling agency. Her career took a notable turn while she was in medical school, when she was named Playboy Playmate of the Month in December 2013. The following year, she earned the title of Playboy Playmate of the Year. She has appeared on 14 Playboy covers and has participated in several photoshoots, including lingerie and nude sessions featured on Playboy Plus.
