Kate Beckinsale
Kate Beckinsale, born Kathrin Romany Beckinsale on July 26, 1973, in London, England, began her acting career in the early 1990s. While studying at the University of Oxford, she made her film debut in "Much Ado About Nothing" (1993) and soon after appeared in several British costume dramas including "Prince of Jutland" (1994), "Cold Comfort Farm" (1995), "Emma" (1996), and "The Golden Bowl" (2000). Alongside her work in film, Beckinsale has taken part in stage and radio productions.
Biography
In the late 1990s, Beckinsale expanded her career into American cinema with roles in dramas such as "The Last Days of Disco" (1998) and "Brokedown Palace" (1999). She gained wider recognition with films like "Pearl Harbor" (2001) and "Serendipity" (2001), and later appeared in "The Aviator" (2004) and "Click" (2006). Her portrayal of Selene in the "Underworld" series (2003–2016) marked a shift toward action films, leading to roles in "Van Helsing" (2004), "Whiteout" (2009), "Contraband" (2012), and "Total Recall" (2012).
Beckinsale has maintained a balance between action roles and smaller dramatic projects, receiving favorable reviews for "Snow Angels" (2007) and "Nothing but the Truth" (2008). In 2016, her performance in the period comedy "Love & Friendship" earned her a Critics' Choice nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy.
