Avril Lavigne

Avril Ramona Lavigne, born on September 27, 1984, in Belleville, Ontario, Canada, is a Canadian singer and songwriter who began her music career as a teenager. At the age of 16, she signed a two-album recording deal with Arista Records. Her debut album, Let Go (2002), marked a significant moment in early 21st-century Canadian music, becoming the best-selling album by a Canadian artist for over a decade. The album featured hits like "Complicated" and "Sk8er Boi," which established her skate punk persona and earned her recognition within the pop punk genre.

Lavigne's second album, Under My Skin (2004), was her first to top the Billboard 200 in the United States and sold 10 million copies worldwide. Her third album, The Best Damn Thing (2007), achieved number one status in seven countries and included the single "Girlfriend," her first to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Subsequent albums Goodbye Lullaby (2011) and Avril Lavigne (2013) continued her streak of commercial success, both earning gold certification in Canada, the U.S., and other markets.
